From the East

Greetings from the East

A Message from the Worshipful Master

Brethren, as I embark on the half way point of my second stent in the Oriental Chair, I can’t help but to feel both privileged and disquieted.

As a lodge we will have the honor in just a short couple of years to usher in a Brother to the Grand East, our very own Worshipful Brother Jerry B. Maple, the current Junior Grand Warden for The Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of the State of Indiana!

I am extremely proud to have gotten the chance to invest him upon his initial appointment just a few short years ago. We are currently in the process of putting some final touches on our first round of fundraising for his Grand Master Reception and travels during that year.

(If you feel so moved to contribute, please consider making a donation to the ‘2028 Grand Master's Reception’ in the Dues section of your member portal @ tinyurl.com/INMemberPortal)

However, as father time and the world outside the tiled recesses of our lodge calls our Brothers from amongst the Craft, I cannot help but be a bit saddened at the current state of our once preeminent lodge.

Our history is almost unrivaled in degree exemplification, the prominence and philanthropy of both our lodge and individual members, the number of Past Grand Masters, Potentates, Grand Commanders, Presiding Officers and Honorary 33° of the Scottish Rite, or by sheer volume throughout the centuries.

While we continue to have 33° Masons grace our inner sanctum, Right Worshipful Brother Maple on his way to the highest rank in Blue Lodge Freemasonry, Brothers who continue servant leadership not only in the Scottish Rite but beyond, and honorable degree work; I would be remiss if I didn’t make it known that Mystic Tie needs your help!

Not that the sky is falling just yet, but I fear unless we rekindle the flame that drove us all to join this Fraternity and many to be active for years in this sublime lodge (as well as procure some new blood); that Mystic Tie may fall silently into the archives of time, joining the list of venerable charters surrendered to antiquity.

We need to once again find our purpose and mission amongst this Brotherhood, whether that is clinging to the emphasis of proficiency and eminence, or perhaps evolving into something that the members and men of today are seeking…family and a sense of belonging. Making better men for this world along the way by utilizing the degrees, symbolism, council, and relationships we have at our disposal.

With your assistance, I truly hope and believe that Mystic Tie can not merely recruit good men and their families into our mystic circle, but once again rise to prominence in the state of Indiana!!

Thank you for your continued support of our lodge, and please feel free to reach out to me anytime regarding a desire to assist with degree work, serve as an officer of the lodge or to get active again (or maybe even for the first time), any events we have planned, or questions about the lodge.

Fraternally and faithfully,

WM Brandon Armacost, PM
